Auditions: Baraka Opera Kenya Chorus
Baraka Opera Kenya (BOK) has the pleasure of announcing the establishment of Kenya's first-ever professional operatic chorus. The objective of this choir is to achieve a high standard of proficiency in operatic choral singing. Benefits of being part of the choir include paid participation in BOK operatic productions, receiving free vocal coaching from some of the world’s best, access to BOK rehearsal facilities at no cost when engaged in BOK productions, a 25% discount on the hire of BOK facilities for personal projects and potential participation in national and international tours.
AUDITION INFORMATION
The auditions will be held in Nairobi and Siaya Counties.
The auditions IN NAIROBI will be held at the BOK Creative Hub in Lavington Mall, 4th Floor on:
Saturday, June 27th 12 pm to 4 pm
Sunday, June 28th 12 pm to 4 pm

We are looking to select a total of 16 singers (4 Sopranos, 4 Altos, 4 Tenors, 4 Basses). At the auditions, you will be required to sing a classical song (preferably opera or oratorio) and a piece in any other style which shows your ability to act. Each audition will last a maximum of 8 minutes. Both pieces may be performed in any language. Applicants requiring piano accompaniment should upload their score(s) when completing the registration form. Applicants who wish to sing to a backing track should also upload their audio file(s) when completing the registration form.
Applications are encouraged from choir directors, music educators, vocal coaches, and any singer with solid experience in singing leading roles.
Chorus members will be expected to learn music independently.
The number of rehearsals may vary depending on the production. The minimum rehearsal requirement will be communicated before the start of each production. Rehearsals will mostly happen on weekends. Any changes will be announced well in advance.
