About the Programme

The Music Literacy & Musicianship Programme is a 10-week, intensive, project-based course designed to build strong practical music literacy and musicianship skills. The programme focuses on applying music theory in real musical contexts such as performance, teaching, and composition.

The course is aligned with ABRSM standards and prepares participants to confidently sit for the ABRSM Grade 5 Music Theory Examination.

Who Is This Programme For?

This programme is ideal for:

  • Aspiring and professional musicians

  • Music educators

  • Performing and recording artists

Participants must be 18 years and above and able to commit fully to the entire 10-week programme.

Programme Objectives

By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:

  • Read and interpret music notation with confidence

  • Apply music theory practically in performance and teaching

  • Demonstrate strong musicianship skills

  • Use basic keyboard skills to support theory learning

  • Prepare successfully for the ABRSM Grade 5 Theory examination

Curriculum Highlights

The course curriculum, designed and delivered by award-winning music educator Winnie the Music Educator, includes:

  • Basic Elements of Music

  • Aurals

  • Basic keyboard skills

  • Harmony

  • Advanced Notation

  • Introduction to the Orchestra

  • Introduction to Music History

  • Teaching methodology for music educators

  • ABRSM Grade 5 Mock Exam

  • End of term Concert

The programme includes continuous internal assessments to reinforce learning.

This course is specifically designed to prepare participants for the ABRSM Grade 5 Music Theory Examination, which all participants are strongly encouraged to sit for.

Participants who successfully complete the programme and meet all requirements will be awarded a certificate of completion.

Programme Structure

  • Start Date: 2nd February 2026

  • Duration: 10 weeks

  • Sessions: 3 per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)

  • Time: 10 am – 12 noon

  • Total Learning Time: Approximately 60 hours

(Alternative session times can be arranged if necessary.)

Fees

The total fee for the full programme is KES 30,000.

Payment Schedule:

  • KES 12,000 payable at registration

  • KES 10,000 payable after the first 4 weeks

  • KES 8,000 payable at the beginning of the final 3 weeks

Alternative payment arrangements are available upon request.

Important to Note:

  • No refunds once registration is confirmed

  • Certificates will be issued only after full payment and successful completion of the programme

  • All participants must sign a consent and commitment form before the programme begins

  • Booklets and manuscript paper (separate materials fee applies)

  • Digital learning resources are provided where applicable
