Two pioneering organizations, OperAffinity and Baraka Opera Kenya (BOK), are joining forces for "Stories in Song: Three Sopranos Explore the Power of Storytelling Through Music," a performance that celebrates the unifying force of opera while advancing our shared mission: to nurture talent, inspire young audiences, and create life-changing opportunities for Kenyan artists.
A Partnership in Shared Vision
Both OperAffinity and BOK believe that opera is more than just an art form, it’s a vehicle for social change, education, and cultural exchange.
OperAffinity brings global expertise, connecting Kenyan talent to international stages through masterclasses, festivals, and performance opportunities. Their work has already seen young Kenyan singers perform at the Vatican and prepare for auditions in Europe.
Baraka Opera Kenya is a trailblazer in East Africa, using opera to tell African stories while fostering the next generation of artists through School Concerts, the Junior Boys Choir (JBC), and professional training.
Together we amplify the impact of our visions, bridging Kenya’s rich musical heritage with the global opera scene.
Key Aims of the Collaboration
1. Expanding School Concerts & Classical Music Outreach
BOK’s School Concert Programme has already introduced thousands of Kenyan students to opera, aligning with Kenya’s Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) to nurture creativity and confidence. With OperAffinity’s support, this initiative can:
Reach more schools, including underserved regions.
Enhance training for local artists who perform in schools.
Develop new educational materials to make opera accessible to young minds.
2. Masterclasses & International Exposure for Kenyan Singers
OperAffinity’s 10-day opera training program for Kenyan singers is a stepping stone to global careers. This kind of collaborations aim to among other things:
